The ABC of the Gospel

One of the first things we learn as children are the A-B-C’s. These basic building blocks may seem simple, but they are very important, since they form the foundation for our future learning and understanding.

God’s message of love and salvation found in the Bible has its A-B-C’s too. Much like the importance of the alphabet, the simple truth they share is not only essential for spiritual life, it also is the basis for our spiritual freedom and growth.

A – All have sinned,
and come short of the glory of God. As it is written, There is none righteous. (Romans 3:10,23)

“For there is not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not” (Ecclesiastes 7:20).

“The soul that sinneth, it shall die” (Ezekiel 18:4).

“All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way” (Isaiah 53:6).

B – Behold the Lamb
of God, which taketh away the sin of the world. This is the Son of God. (John 1:29,34)

“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16).

“Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved” (Acts 4:12).

C – Come unto me,
all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. (Matthew 11:28)

“Jesus said … I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in Me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in Me shall never die. Believest thou this?” (John 11:25,26).

“What must I do to be saved? … Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved” (Acts 16:30,31).

“I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me” (John 14:6).

“Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth My word, and believeth on Him that sent Me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life” (John 5:24).

“If thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation” (Romans 10:9,10).

“Seek ye the Lord while He may be found, call ye upon Him while He is near: Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the Lord; and He will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for He will abundantly pardon” (Isaiah 55:6,7).

“Him that cometh to Me, I will in no wise cast out” (John 6:37).
